The added value of China's semiconductor device special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 33.9% year-on-year in October

China's industrial sector maintained its upward trajectory in October, with notable growth in the production of advanced manufacturing equipment, particularly in the semiconductor and electronic components sectors.

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the value-added output of semiconductor device special equipment manufacturing surged by 33.9% year-on-year in October, while electronic components and electromechanical component equipment manufacturing registered impressive growth rates of 11.8%

Fueled by the thriving aerospace sector, the aviation, spacecraft, and equipment manufacturing industry witnessed a remarkable surge, with an impressive 12%. This growth was particularly evident in spacecraft and launch vehicle manufacturing, which skyrocketed by 31.2%, and aviation-related equipment manufacturing, which expanded by a notable 13.9%. 

Additionally, the rising demand for smart consumer goods propelled smart vehicle equipment manufacturing and smart unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturing to unprecedented heights, with growth rates of 89.2% and 53.2%, respectively. These remarkable advancements underscore the aerospace industry's transformative power and its ability to drive innovation across a wide range of sectors.

While celebrating growth, it's essential to recognize the role of green manufacturing in China's sustainable development. Green manufacturing continues to fuel China's sustainable development trajectory, with major new energy products maintaining rapid growth in October. New energy vehicle production reached an impressive 927,000 units, marking a year-on-year surge of 27.9% which represents 33.4% of total vehicle production, a significant increase of 16.0 and 4.0 percentage points compared to the corresponding periods in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

 Other green manufacturing sectors also exhibited growth. Production of photovoltaic cells, lithium-ion power batteries for automobiles, and charging piles soared by 62.8%, 57.3%, and 33.5%, respectively. Similarly, green material products such as bio-based chemical fibers, ultra-white glass for the solar industry, polycrystalline silicon, and monocrystalline silicon witnessed growth rates of 70.2%, 33.5%, 37.5%, 54.1%, and 48.8%, respectively.
