Texas Instruments to Expand with Two New Assembly and Test Plants in Malaysia

Texas Instruments (TI) has recently made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of its Malaysian manufacturing operations. The company has acquired adjacent buildings to its existing facility in Kuala Lumpur and intends to construct two new assembly and test plants.
These plants will primarily focus on assembling and testing analog and embedded processing chips. TI's objective is to internalize more than 90% of its back-end capacity by 2030.
The construction of the two plants is scheduled to commence later this year, and production is expected to commence as early as 2025. With the establishment of these facilities, approximately 1,300 job opportunities will be created in Malaysia, leading to positive growth in the country's semiconductor manufacturing sector.

Ring facilities in Malaysia for more than 50 years and currently employs over 10,000 people in the country. The forthcoming plants will become TI's largest manufacturing sites in Malaysia, enabling the company to meet the increasing demand for its products.
The Minister of International Trade and Industry, Mohamed Azmin Ali, conveyed his appreciation for TI's investment, describing it as a vote of confidence in Malaysia's semiconductor industry. The government is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to business growth and looks forward to collaborating with TI to enhance Malaysia's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
This expansion by TI marks a significant milestone for Malaysia's semiconductor industry.
