Micron Technology to Open New Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility in India

Published: 6.30.2023

Micron Technology, Inc. has unveiled its plans to establish a state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India. This significant move marks Micron's first venture in India, focusing on the assembly and testing of DRAM and NAND memory products.

The establishment of this facility will be situated in the SANAND Industrial Park and construction is scheduled to commence in 2023, with operations projected to commence in late 2024.

The opening of the new facility is a major boost for the Indian semiconductor industry. India is currently a major consumer of semiconductors, but it has a limited manufacturing base. The opening of Micron's new facility will help to address this gap and make India a more attractive destination for semiconductor investment.

The new facility is part of Micron's ongoing investment in its global manufacturing capabilities. In recent years, Micron has opened new facilities in Singapore, Japan, and the United States. The company has also announced plans to expand its existing facilities in China and Taiwan.

Micron's investment in India is a sign of the company's commitment to meeting the growing demand for memory and storage products around the world. The new facility will help Micron to better serve its customers in India and other emerging markets.
