Foxconn Expands Chip Production in Bac Giang, Vietnam with $80 Million Investment
Published: 11.5.2024
Foxconn’s subsidiary, Shunsin Technology Vietnam, plans an $80 million investment in Bắc Giang province for chip manufacturing. In its Environmental Impact Assessment submitted to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Shunsin proposes $20 million in direct funding, with an additional $60 million sourced through loans, making up 75% of the total investment.
The project will focus on producing integrated circuits (ICs) or chips, with an annual capacity of 4.5 million units. All products are set for export to the U.S., EU, and Japan. Spanning 44,343.8 m² within the Quang Chau Industrial Park, the site is leased from the Saigon - Bac Giang Industrial Park Corporation, an entity of the Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation.
Shunsin aims to complete permitting by December, followed by construction and machinery installation until May 2026. Trial production is expected by June 2026, with full operations by December 2026. The project will require about 1,450 workers, including 35 foreigners, once at full capacity.
This investment aligns with Foxconn’s broader expansion in Vietnam, where the company has operated since 2007, producing a variety of electronics and automotive components across multiple provinces.
